Ghana Government introduces new guidelines for ICT sector

The Ministry of Communication, Ghana has issued a new policy guidelines for the ICT industry to establish a market structure to attract investments and allow the sector to keep pace with technology development in the world.

Under a new license regime, the Government will adopt a unified licensing and technology neutral framework in order to enable optimum utilization of the existing infrastructure for provision of diverse services. Operators and service providers will be licensed under a market structure consisting of the following three broad market segments: Network Facilities Providers (NFP) Operators under this category shall own any formal of communication infrastructure either based on satellite, terrestrial, mobile or fixed . The second category will be Applications service provider (ASP). Under this category the licensees shall provide all forms of services to end users using networks using network services of a facilities provider. Content Service Provider (CSP) Licensees under this category will provide contents service material , other information services and data processing services.
