Experts from different regions of the world share their experiences of the services and objectives of setting up telecentres in various countries. The potential for conferences like this one is to bring cross-cultural learning to take place. Asia with its diversity of people and experiences has much to offer, as also experiences from Africa where in telecentres have served to crucially bridge the digital divide. Be they servicing poverty reduction issues or learning needs or e-inclusion, or governance, the telecentres project experiences serve to advocate the right mix of services. The challenge of twin objectives of attaining financial sustainability with that of the social purposes always seems to be a struggle. Yet, its critical that sustainability questions around telecentre projects address the needs of the communities that it serves.
