Conference Presentation
Day 2, February 7, 2007 (9:30am-11am)
Building a Collective Vision for Telecentres Beyond Infrastructure
This is a key opening session of the telecentre track. Often the telecentre programmes and projects have focussed on addressing the access questions, and largely invested on overcoming the technological and access barriers. This session is designed to bring in a development perspective, and particularly focussed on bringing a macro-development vision from representatives of the development sector.

Plenary presentations in a vision-building format will piece the voices from Malaysian Government delegate, Microsoft delegate, Telecentre.org delegate, IDRC delegate, and SDC delegate

The vision session will reflect on innovation, emerging markets, communication and media perspectives, and major national initiatives. Moving from telecentre to Knowledge centres pre-supposes the need to focus on capacity building and content, especially in local languages.
